A concurrent CBC/Diff should be drawn with this assay or the results of a concurrent CBC/Diff should be sent so that absolute cell values can be reported.
This test is New York DOH approved.
Collect
1 mL blood in EDTA (Lavender)
Minimum Collection Volume
1 mL in EDTA (Lavender)
Acceptable Specimen Collect Alternatives
1 mL in Sodium Heparin (Dark Green) or ACD-A (Pale Yellow)
Unacceptable Conditions
Frozen, clotted, hemolyzed or centrifuged specimens. Specimen collected in an unacceptable anticoagulant.
Storage/Transport Temperature
AMBIENT
Specimen Preparation
Transport whole blood at room temperature. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
Mon-Fri (Specimen must be in the CBDI lab by 1700 on Fridays)
Performing Lab
CBDI DIL 513-636-4685
Methodology
Flow Cytometry
Reported
2 Days
Tests Included
Immunophenotyping of lymphocytes is performed and results are scored on a 0-4 scale based on different characterization for typical diagnosis, result interpretation is also included
This flow cytometry assay is intended to be used as a screening test. Screening tests are not 100% sensitive nor specific, and a normal result should not preclude molecular sequencing if a patient’s clinical presentation suggests that the probability of a diagnosis is high.
CPT Codes
88184, 88185x10, 88188
Acceptable Specimen Collect Alternatives
1 mL in Sodium Heparin (Dark Green) or ACD-A (Pale Yellow)
